The Story

Cucumis sativus

Days to Maturity: 65

Marketmore Cucumber is the classic hardy, reliable & prolific slicing and pickling cucumber. Crisp and refreshing eaten straight off the vine or added to salads, hydrating cucumber water, and hors d'oeuvres. Our pickles turned out crisp & delicious! A Southwest adapted heirloom favored by market gardeners across the country. This batch was originally obtained from the late great John Navazio who selected them specifically for the SouthWest . So as with many of the "well know" varieties in our collection they will do better in our climate than other Marketmore batches

Planting Instructions: Start Marketmore Cucumber seeds indoors 3 weeks before last spring frost and transplant after all danger of frost has passed and soil has warmed a bit. Or simply direct seed 1/2" deep in well-draining soil and keep seeds moist until germinated.

Seed Saving Instructions: Allow cucumbers to grow large and yellow, well after normal harvest time. Harvest before first autumn frost. Cut open and scoop seeds out with surrounding gel. Ferment in a jar with cloth secured over top for a day. Strain and dry seeds. Store seeds in a paper or mesh bag in a cool, dark and dry location.

Approx 35 Marketmore Cucumber seeds per packet
